The best part of serving in the HealthCorps has been being connected to something bigger than myself. This program has helped me build a new career in the healthcare field by opening doors to understand how the system works in Idaho and ways I can contribute.
My term as an Idaho HealthCorps Health Navigator has been FANTASTIC! I love serving and helping others and AmeriCorps has been an avenue by which I can do so. I’ve grown both as a person and professionally throughout this year and am grateful for the opportunities that have been provided through my service.
I am happily serving the Pocatello community through a local charter school. I love teaching kids healthy eating through the Let’s Go 5210 program and have enjoyed the last two years with Idaho HealthCorps and look forward to a couple of more!
Serving at Genesis Community Health through Idaho HealthCorps has given me a stronger understanding of the barriers that patients face when trying to access healthcare in our state, as well as the social determinants of health that contribute to that process. At Genesis, I work directly with patients, providers, and community health workers to help our patients receive the medical care they need to overcome social barriers. Through my service, I have become better prepared to understand, address, and overcome these complex issues as a healthcare provider.
Being an AmeriCorps member gave me the ability to serve my community, continue my education, and make lifelong friends. I will always be grateful for the experience I had as a member.
The time I have spent serving with the Idaho HealthCorps AmeriCorps program has been such an amazing experience. AmeriCorps has provided me many opportunities to serve my community, meet other wonderful people who value service, and grow throughout my academic career. I am so grateful for the opportunities and experience AmeriCorps has provided me.
I decided to join the Idaho HealthCorps program to serve my community and help me with educational expenses. I was thrilled with how many community members, especially family, I was able to serve during my term. Not only did I get to help community members, but I was able to achieve my goal of helping low income community members a hand and reducing their stress concerning basic human needs so they could focus on providing a safe and loving environment for their families. I would highly recommend AmeriCorps to anyone who would ask as it allows you to fulfill a great need in a community. Programs like this fill gaps and offer a lending hand. If these programs didn’t exist a lot of families would go without. The big picture is taking the weight and stress off of families, thus alleviating children who live in these households.
The Idaho HealthCorps AmeriCorps team allowed me to immerse myself in an environment that is exceptionally supportive while learning a variety of skills. I was able to grow as a person and become more active in my community. I was even able to apply and was accepted into medical school during my term since my site and the program staff were so flexible and supportive.
Through the IHC AmeriCorps program, I was able to roll out a new volunteer orientation, organize the first-ever volunteer appreciation picnic, and aid in food distribution throughout the Treasure Valley. My service time with AmeriCorps was essential to my personal and professional growth over this last year!
I love the AmeriCorps program. I am part of Idaho HealthCorps, and I have grown in many ways from this experience. AmeriCorps has given me and others so many opportunities to serve and learn. AmeriCorps is an amazing program, and I would recommend anyone and everyone to it. I have met new people, learned new things, and have helped many. My supervisors have been so helpful and have answered my questions promptly and have addressed my concerns and needs as well as those of my community!
My time serving in AmeriCorpshas been nothing short of amazing. Through my three terms of service, I have met and had the opportunity to serve, and serve with, so many amazing people that I would never have met otherwise! I have grown so much personally and professionally and I am beyond grateful for the Idaho HealthCorps AmeriCorps program.
Serving as an Idaho HealthCorps AmeriCorps member has given me the chance to serve many wonderful individuals in Southeast Idaho and improve as a future Occupational Therapist. The training and guidance from the program and the Serve Idaho team has helped me prosper as I prepare for the workforce. I continue to be amazed at the chance to serve in this program and assist in paying for my education. Thank you AmeriCorps and Serve Idaho!
The families we serve with rental assistance depend on meaningful supportive services from our team. Idaho HealthCorps AmeriCorps has provided us with motivated volunteers who have made a huge impact on our organization and community. Jesse Tree owes a lot to our dedicated AmeriCorps members and they have certainly made a difference in our clients’ lives.
AmeriCorps has really helped our non-profit organization reach and serve more people in our community while also operating on a shoe-string budget! Our members come to us ready to learn and eager to serve in our community. Our members are part of our teamand are dedicated to our mission.
