About Health Navigators

Home » Health Navigators
Health Navigators are placed with non-profits across Idaho where they assist the non-profit through direct service including but not limited to recruiting and managing volunteers, working directly with community members to help make a change, or doing work involved in making a direct change. These members are required to collect and submit data on behalf of Idaho HealthCorps while still following the policies and guidelines of their site. These positions come in three different contract types: Full Time (1,700 hours), Reduced Full Time (1,200 hours), and Part Time (900 hours) and offer a living stipend and a Segal Education Award*. If the site and member decide that the member should serve in a full-time capacity, the member is also offered health insurance. Only Full Time (1,700 hours) positions offer childcare. Please contact Idaho HealthCorps staff for stipend and education award amounts as well as health insurance allowances. Health Navigator positions require cash and in-kind match. For information on cash and in-kind match requirements, please contact Idaho HealthCorps staff.

How do I get started?

Community members looking to get involved should check Indeed or contact program staff members to review open positions. After choosing a position to apply to and being accepted by the site, the applicant should complete the following steps:

  1. Please turn in a legible copy of your driver’s license, social security card, and one of these documents. Legible means readable, all edges showing and not blurry. Bring these documents into our office in Pocatello or Meridian or turn them in here. (See left-hand side for addresses).
  2. Complete IHC AmeriCorps application.
  3. Email us at IHC@isu.edu to schedule a 30-minute zoom orientation meeting with our team.
  4. Once you have turned in your identification documents mentioned in step 1, we will invite you to the MyAmeriCorps portal. Please create an account and fill out the Enrollment Form on the left hand side of the MyAmeriCorps homepage.
  5. We will start the first step of the background check for you as soon as we have your identification documents. Once we start your background check through Truescreen, they will send you an email asking you to complete a couple of steps.  ***Caution:  Truescreen will ask you to upload a copy of your driver’s license into their system. Please do not upload anything except your driver’s license.
  6. The instructions for the second part of the background check are included below. Please wait until after you’ve completed step 3 to complete this step.
