Benny’s Health Corps

Home » Benny’s HealthCorps
The Benny’s HealthCorps is for students and community members who wish to serve their community and earn an education award (scholarship). Benny’s HealthCorps AmeriCorps members are either health profession students or can be community members who wish to be placed with non-profits across Idaho. These members serve by supporting non-profits, help organize and attend community service events and assist or educate community members through their clinical rotations. Benny’s HealthCorps members who are placed with non-profits provide assistance through direct service including but not limited to recruiting and managing volunteers, working directly with community members to help make a change, or doing work involved in making a direct change. These positions come in two different contract types: Reduced Part Time (675 hours) and Quarter Time (450 hours) which offer a Segal education award*.

*The use of the Segal Education Award (education award/ scholarship) is limited. Applicants are highly encouraged to review its guidelines to be sure it fits the applicant’s needs.

How do I get started?

Students looking to become a Benny’s Health Corps member will complete the following steps before being able to count time towards their contract:

  1. Please turn in a legible copy of your driver’s license, social security card, and one of these documents. Legible means readable, all edges showing and not blurry. Bring these documents into our office in Pocatello or Meridian or turn them in here. (See left-hand side for addresses).
  2. Complete IHC AmeriCorps application.
  3. Email us at IHC@isu.edu to schedule a 30-minute zoom orientation meeting with our team.
  4. Once you have turned in your identification documents mentioned in step 1, we will invite you to the MyAmeriCorps portal. Please create an account and fill out the Enrollment Form on the left hand side of the MyAmeriCorps homepage.
  5. We will start the first step of the background check for you as soon as we have your identification documents. Once we start your background check through Truescreen, they will send you an email asking you to complete a couple of steps.  ***Caution:  Truescreen will ask you to upload a copy of your driver’s license into their system. Please do not upload anything except your driver’s license.
