”Students and community members who wish to serve their community and earn and education award (scholarship), can apply to become an EAO Member. These Members serve by supporting non-profits, help organize and attend community service events and assist or educate community members through their clinical rotations. EAO Members who are placed with non-profits help through direct service including but not limited to recruiting and managing volunteers, working directly with community members to help make a change, or doing work involved in making a direct change. These positions come in two different contract types: Reduced Half Time (675 hours) and Quarter Time (450 hours) which offer a Segal education award*.
*The use of the Segal Education Award (education award/ scholarship) is limited. Applicants are highly encouraged to review its guidelines to be sure it fits the applicant’s needs.

Students looking to become an EAO Members can email Idaho HealthCorps staff at IHC@isu.edu, text or call (208) 530-3796, or call (208) 282-4436. The subject line or text can read something as simple as “I want to join AmeriCorps!”

I thought the opportunity was amazing to represent AmeriCorps on my rotation while helping others improve their health and begin their journey to living pain free! As a student, I truly appreciate AmeriCorps because they recognize the hard work we put in and support us through financial help. This makes a big difference for me, especially since I am a PharmD/MBA student balancing two programs, rotations, and family responsibilities. I am also excited about the opportunity to grow, learn new skills, and work closely with patients and community members. Providing access to care for patients in rural communities has always been close to my heart, as I am from a smaller town and had to travel for healthcare needs. Providing this type of healthcare to my patients while I am completing my doctorate is my motivation for being a part of this service experience.
