Benny’s Health Corps

Home » Benny’s HealthCorps
The Benny’s Health Corps is Idaho State University’s organization supporting volunteerism throughout employees and students. Benny’s Health Corps AmeriCorps members are usually health profession students at Idaho State University. Students from Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Audiology, Dietetics, Radiology, and more benefit from this program without having to make a time-consuming commitment. Idaho HealthCorps offers Benny’s Health Corps members an education award to assist with the educational costs by documenting training through classroom participation and training events offered by the program and Serve Idaho. These positions come in two different contract types: Reduced Part Time (675 hours) and Part Time (450 hours) which offer a Segal education award*.
*The Segal Education Award is limited and use and applicants are highly encouraged to review its guidelines to be sure it fits applicant’s needs.

How do I get started?

Students looking to become a Benny’s Health Corps member will complete the following steps before being able to count time towards their contract:

  1. Please turn in a legible copy of your driver’s license, social security card, and one of these documents. Legible means readable, all edges showing and not blurry. Bring these documents into our office in Pocatello or Meridian or turn them in here. (See left-hand side for addresses).
  2. Complete IHC AmeriCorps application.
  3. Email us at IHC@isu.edu to schedule a 30-minute zoom orientation meeting with our team.
  4. Once you have turned in your identification documents mentioned in step 1, we will invite you to the MyAmeriCorps portal. Please create an account and fill out the Enrollment Form on the left hand side of the MyAmeriCorps homepage.
  5. We will start the first step of the background check for you as soon as we have your identification documents. Once we start your background check through Truescreen, they will send you an email asking you to complete a couple of steps.  ***Caution:  Truescreen will ask you to upload a copy of your driver’s license into their system. Please do not upload anything except your driver’s license.
  6. The instructions for the second part of the background check are included below. Please wait until after you’ve completed step 3 to complete this step.
